Her paintings are inspired by the African landscape and artifacts; Oriental textiles; ancient and contemporary art world-wide. Improvisation directly onto the canvas is her preferred working method. Although classified as abstract, figures and landscapes may be discerned. Titles are symbolic references and name the work but it is the visual experience of the work, the way the painted surface approximates the movement and depth of natural configurations, that each painting evokes its particular spirit and feeling.

Matriculated St Theresa's Convent, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 1954. Completed secretarial course, and travelled extensively in Africa and Europe, 1956 - 1957.
BA Fine Arts, University of the Witwatersrand, 1957 - 1960. Student, Brighton College of Arts, 1969.
